Nothing Trumps Experience

Is it possible to truly understand something without experiencing it first hand? The question that's been running through my head these last couple days.

Sure, you can read about the beach in a pamphlet you picked up at the store and get an idea of how wonderful it is. But that doesn't compare to the crisp, salt-filled air channeling through your nostrils and the invigorating sound of the waves cascading amongst the shore.

It's like seeing the sun in a photo your whole life but never feeling the warmth of it. Now explain to someone how great the sun feels on your skin, or better yet, on theirs...

YOU CAN'T.

This goes for anything in life. We sometimes try and tell people how and what to feel when we ourselves have never experienced the matter at hand. We can become more aware by educating ourselves through reading and through conversation, but not to be mistaken... that will NEVER trump experience.
