Let Light Lead the Way
Not to be morbid, but most days I think about dying more than smiling. I often wonder what purpose I serve, if any at all. These thoughts aren’t new to me, they’ve just become more prevalent.
This is not a call for attention. I fold under the spotlight.
I promote light and positivity in hopes to prevent others from feeling hopeless. Those of you that have experienced hopelessness or currently battle with it can attest to the perversity of it.
Regardless of your story, I believe these 3 things can assist you as they’ve assisted me
Mindfulness – Being mindful, present, or aware is a practice all in itself. It requires you to take your focus and hone in on the moment right before you. The pestering past, nor the foreshadowing future has a place in the present moment. Give into right now!
Words of affirmation – this is a big one for me. There’s an incessant amount of chatter that goes on in my head. Usually negative. I’ve come up with best practices to combat these negative thoughts. Words of affirmation being one of them. Whenever I’m taking part in self-care, whether that be washing my hands, taking a shower, or exercising I pair positive self-talk with it. It’s a miniscule part of the process, but it works with repetition. “I exist. I am safe. I am capable.”
Connections – Having close friends or family I can confide in. People who no matter what, DON’T JUDGE. I know with my eyes closed these people will steer me in the right direction.
I don’t claim to have all the answers, or any of them. I only look to share what has benefited me, in hopes to benefit you.
